Zettlr-Zotero Clicking on reference does not open a PDF file.

Right-click on a reference from Zotero in Zettlr (e.g. "Mühlhoff 2025") that contains a PDF uploaded to Zotero, and click on the two fields displayed after the first click ("(Mühlhoff 2025(" and below that "Mühlhoff (2025)"). does not open a PDF. Nothing happens.

When right-clicking on a reference that does not contain a PDF and clicking on the lower of the two fields displayed, the error message "Could not open attachment. Is Zotero running?" appears (in german). And yes, Zotero is running.

I read in the inspiring article https://blog.babak.no/2024/02/19/how-zettlr-changed-my-relation-to-research-literature/ that this should work.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you for the tips. I think I have implemented all the steps, but I am still unable to open PDFs.

You write, "Zettlr now provides more insight when opening a PDF attachment goes wrong. Instead of assuming that the connection to the Better BibTex plugin's server endpoint 'just works,' it now checks every potential issue and provides richer feedback in the logs in case anything goes wrong."

I don't know where to find log files in Zettlr where I could read up on this.

The logs are available once you turn on debug mode. That gives you a new menu develop where there is the log viewer.
