Could not open main Window

Every time I try to run Zettlr I get the following error:

Could not open main Window: ERR_FAILED (-2) loading 'file:///Applications/Zettlr.app/Contents/Resources/app.asar/.webpack/renderer/main_window/index.html?window_id=a67bab0f-8c6a-444a-8e59-d3c06dc52eb2'

I am unable to do anything with the app.

I have tried downloading and reinstalling the app several times.

Can anyone help me resolve this?

Environment details:
Hardware: MacBook Pro
CPU: Apple Silicon (Apple M4 Max chipset:
OS: MacOS Tahoe 26.6.1 (25G76)

Did the app work before? We have seen this error in some rare cases when something weird was going on with the loaded workspaces. Please take a look at the troubleshooting guide in the documentation, and make sure to remove the config json file (after backing it up) from the config folder, and then try starting again.

hendrik Thanks for getting back to me. Unfortunately the that troubleshooting page is returning a 404 error.

The app did work before. It stopped working with the most recent update.

I used Clean My Mac to do a complete removal and reinstall and it seems to be working again. I'll follow up if that changes.

Ah sorry, you accidentally fell into a large documentation overhaul. If you remove the trailing slash from that link, the page will work, apologies for that.

If the new update has caused it, which version have you been using before? 4.6.0? Or an older version? I have a potential theory for what is happening to you.
