There is currently no in-app preview mode, though I think there may be one on the roadmap. The current workflow, apart from Ctr-p, is to set the export option to Temporary directory, which will open an export of your text in a PDF viewer or other external app. When your export is saved to a temporary directory (e.g., /tmp) it is not retained permanently and hence works as a preview.
